Not by Chance! has 59 ratings and 10 reviews. Qhlueme said: Spetner, PhD in physics and years of specialized study in organic evolution, takes the reader. The core of Dr. Lee Spetner’s chal- lenge to neo-Darwinian theory (NDT) is in chapters 4 and 5. He points out that evo- lutionists have repeatedly stressed that. Remarkably Spetner does not straightforward deny macro-evolution, he claims that.

Nov 19, Yeedle rated it liked it. The author is not religious that I know ofhas all sorts of MIT type education and really made the evolutionists look like idiots who overlook evidence. Although he mentioned the Cairn-Smith theory and cance old myth of life originating in some indecipherable primeval soup, Dawkins just assumed that cumulative selection could lead to mAcroevolution.

It is quite clear from his religious views that he has no interest in embracing any evidence for evolution.

Evolution has no problem on this front. Spetner, PhD in physics and years of specialized study in organic evolution, takes the reader step by step, sometimes mini-step by mini-step, with the frequent reiteration necessary for the novice, convenient for the layman, chahce unnecessarily repetitious for the expert.

The author shows in fine fashion that randomness cannot be the progenitor of the wealth of information that has developed in living organisms. Rather than saying the bacterium gained resistance to the antibiotic, spettner is more correct to say that is lost sensitivity to it.

Even though Spetner is a qualified physicist who chacne some scientific publications under his belt, he is not qualified in biology and his views on evolution have been rejected by the scientific community as pseudoscience.

Shattering the Modern Theory of Evolution. The gy comedy Creationism. Richard Dawkins seems to revel in describing numerous examples of convergent evolution without realizing that any of those examples destroy his case for evolution.

These adaptations occur just when they are needed, because they are triggered by an input from the new environment. Josylaine rated it liked it Jul 25, Nor did he cite anyone who did. If comparing all possible biological features yields the same tree, then the tree could have some objective reality. Also setner touched on the project where they are trying unsuccessfully to recreate the big bang.

Spetner developed what he called his “nonrandom evolutionary hypothesis,” which proposed rapid microevolution which he attributed to a “built-in ability” in animals and plants to “respond adaptively to environmental nltand suggested that even some cases of macroevolution could be explained by his hypothesis. They may evolve to resist types of antibiotics or cause more severe effects, but salmonella is always salmonella. Spetner is a critic of the role of mutations in the modern synthesis.

Interestingly, both men accept evolution. Preview — Not by Chance!

Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. I would encourage anyone that reads this book to look at the counter arguments and also pick up biology books written by credible biologists.

At this point, someone not keen on math will appreciate that previously mentioned use of reminders and reiterations. No trivia or quizzes yet. All point mutations that have been studied on the molecular level turn out to reduce the genetic information and not increase it.

Not to worry, for Spetner provides appendices that take the reader more gradually through the processes of life. The new book provides some wonderful arguments that challenge common descent and neo-Darwinian explanations of evolution.

Those probability numbers on random genetic change are amazing!
