Fantastic book and the author did a great job of narrating.

I have been using this book as a textbook for my class introductory scientific English class at a Japanese university over the past three years, but I had to clarify these errors to students every time we encounter such an error while reading together. Winchester’s book covers the history of the region, especially as a Dutch colony and gives a good working description of plate tectonics and the history of that discovery.

The actual meat of the book is lean and spread out thin, which makes it quite easy to put the book as Informative book on an interesting subject, but way too padded with tangential subjects, like spice trade, Dutch colonialism, tectonic plate science history, Islamic revolution in Indonesia, etc.
