The Kalalau Trail is a trail along Nā Pali Coast of the island of Kauai in the state of Hawaii. The trail runs approximately 11 miles (18 km) along the island’s north. Yes, there is enough water along the way, unless you drink more than 1L per mile—I sweat a lot, and even I get by with a 1. We were wondering what gps to buy because we have never used one before and where wondering if it needs a map kxlalau loading because we are buying it in London. Most of the reviews and you tube videos are pretty misleading about the dangers.

You immediately begin climbing up and old trail, build with paving stones, but somewhat slippery and crumbling. We are average backpackers having backpacked Grand Canyon twice.

Hiking the Kalalau Trail took us about nine hours to hike straight to Kalalau Beach and about mal hours to hike back, with a detour to the Hanakoa Waterfall.

Use extreme caution, especially during wet weather. No body wants to see anyone get hurt. The mile trail is graded but almost never level as it crosses above towering sea cliffs and through lush valleys.
