They torture each other by pushing those buttons and some how growing closer. It was bad enough when just the dead relied on her. There are two kinds of Dream-Hunters, Oneroi and Skoti. She and Tate go to the morgue and while they are there she meets the ghost of the victim, Gloria.
Now’s there’s the seductive Dream-Hunter Xypher who needs Simone’s help in opening a portal to the Atlantean hell realm to fight insatiable demons. She even had her own hilarious ghost sidekick. I wasn’t sure if I’d like Xypher to start with, he’s so grumpy and downright rude in the beginning but it doesn’t take long to realise that he’s just spent so long without any kind of kindness in his life that he’s forgotten what it’s like to care or be cared for.
Since Xypher believes he will return to Tartarus no matter what at the end of his month free, he is determined to make it count and get revenge on Satara by killing her and making her suffer in Tartarus right alongside him.

She is friends with Tate, the coroner. Weird…I know, but there it is! So whoever is after Xypher will now try to kill Simone. You know what is coming but also it refreshes my memory because I have forgotten so much that it is almost like reading it sherrilyh the first time…almost. Hence, I liked everything in this book and there was nothing I disliked! I think the only negative was the Satara situation was handled a bit too easily.
No, she was made of sulphur and bile and everything evil. It would make hell even more biting. Now we get the full story and anytime someone is totally screwed over because they are desperate for the only kindness they have ever seen in their entire existence – I want that person to be happy.

When they wheel in another victim, she doesn’t think much about it, until he gets up from her table and starts to leave. And who dreaam Jaden answer to? I am glad that I enjoyed it much more than the last book in the series Upon a Midnight Clear. Simone is a psychic who can see the dead, Xypher is a fallen dream god who was led astray by Satara and killed, doomed to be tortured fir eternity, but Hades lets him out for one month.
And along the way, of course, Simone shows Xypher kindness and compassion that he has never had before, and they have a very tender and playful romance, which was gorgeous – and again, completely functional with no game playing or bullshit.
