Each is beautifully told in its own unique way, though the standout is Unamuno’s “Saint Manuel Bueno, Martyr. It’s not an introductory text and does not contain explanatory material, like in a Norton paperback for example; Marino lets the texts speak for themselves, except in places where a foreign language is quoted or a particularly obscure or obsolete idea is brought up.
