He is houellebrcq, a software engineer who is fed up with his job and bored of his fellow human beings, and thinks little of sex after a thirty year period of chastity. I get it, Houellebecq’s tired of the niceties of existence and is looking for something more vibrant, something to wake him up out of his stupor.

I really like Houellebecq’s work usually, “Platform” is one of the best novels I’ve read in the last 10 years houellebexq his brilliant essay on HP Lovecraft made me go back to the pulpy hack writer and read his stories again. I don’t see anything remotely good about this book and will not de again read something by this author.
Not sure whether the translation was too poor or if it was just pointless.
Una brutta copia della Nausea. Poor writing and sexist. Du coup, pas du tout mon truc. I was feeling up to making the necessary gestures. He uses so many metaphors and complicated words batxlla with some dfl that gives the impression he is actually saying something really deep. But it’s the same old song — dude is lonely because he is an asshole and blames women for his lack of touch and Life Is Empty and Women Are Cunts.
The story follows the narrator deeper and deeper into his depression. Oh, and the translator is so British it’s distracting.
