We think that he is just being realistic and trying to figure out and make order of the things but the truth is that he uses these dark images and tone in order to convince the reader that his perception about Hyderabad is the right one. To be converted you have to destroy your past, destroy your history.
He is so present on the page, he’s honest and self-aware, he takes me with him even when, after a moment, I realise I disagree.
